The well-loved sports reporter and broadcaster with BeIN SPORTS, Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari. After a meeting with one of Al Jazeera Sports decision makers he began his career as a TV broadcaster by happenstance in 20023 (now beIN Sports). Saadon was believed by the decision-maker to be a TV presenter.

Since and for the last 17 years, Saadon has created a niche for himself in sports as a sports presenter that, thanks to his significant journalistic expertise, is known and venerated by millions across the Middles and North Africans.

The person

In his spare time, Saadon enjoys soccer. Blue is a favorite, and his disdain for 4x4s is intriguing. His parents hoped he'd be an engineer. But fate had other plans for this vivacious young man who loves the night and tweets. The sports commentator would have preferred a healthy dinner over a snack, and would have made more money playing tennis than commentating.

He thinks you should be humble and hardworking rather than cocky. People love and support Saadon because he has all of these qualities and more!

The professional tennis player

Saadon began playing tennis at the Qatar Sports Club when he was six years old and went on to become a professional tennis player on the ATP Tour as well as a Qatar Davis Cup representative. Tennis is still one of his main interests, along with football and the media!

The brand ambassador

Currently, Saadon, who was born on 21 July 1983, is the official ambassador of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), the organisation responsible for delivering tournament infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup 2022™.

In September 2019, Vodafone Qatar took on Saadon as their new brand ambassador. As their new face, this accomplished sports presenter who is recognised by the entire Arab world, will highlight the transformative digital innovations the company is bringing to the market, along with their immense strides in the rollout of 5G in Qatar. Upon his appointment, Vodafone Qatar Chief Executive Officer, Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Al Thani, had this to say to MENAFM:

"We're delighted to have Mohammed Saadon join the Vodafone Qatar family. He is an inspiring person and we know he will bring an exceptional level of passion to a role that will see him sharing our vision to pioneer digital services that make our country one of the most digitally connected in the world."

The volunteer

Saadon believes in helping others and has participated in a variety of initiatives, including Generation Amazing, Qatar's international football for development program, and the Accessibility Forum, SC's drive to guarantee accessibility is a major component of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The social media personality

Saadon is a well-celebrated Qatari social media personality who has a huge following on social media. His aim is to spread positivity around him and also to promote charity work which is something he hugely believes in.

The team player

When Saad was asked in an exclusive interview for The Association of Muslim Footballers (The AMF), what he liked best about football, he said:

"I like teamwork in football because the success or winning a title for a game doesn't come from one individual. It comes through teamwork."

World Cup Coverage

As a beIN Sports sports presenter and a Barcelona Football Club fan since he was 12, Saadon has had the good fortune of covering the FIFA World Cups in South Africa in 2010, Brazil in 2014, and Russia in 2018, and he's really looking forward to covering the World Cup in his home country in 2022, he told SC.

When Qatar was awarded the 2022 FIFA World Cup bid in 2010, Saadon completed his Masters in Broadcast Journalism at Goldsmiths, University of London (he has a Bachelor of Sports Science degree from Qatar University). He was also named Al Jazeera Sports' 2018 Hosting Rights Journalist for the United Kingdom.

"Therefore, I was covering the fortunes of England, but naturally, I waited for the Qatar news at the same time," he told the SC when discussing the launch of Qatar 2022 and what it means for people in Qatar in September 2019: "Therefore, I was covering the fortunes of England, but naturally, I waited for the Qatar news at the same time." It was an incredible event that I couldn't put into words when it was unveiled (that Qatar would host the 2022 FIFA World Cup). A few hours later, the channel urged me to return to Qatar, and I was going to Doha that night."

It was a weird experience, yet my landing in Doha stands out in my mind. Everyone was out because all of the streets were closed. He drove from the airport to the studio in a police car because it was the only way we could get about." I enquired of a friend of mine who works with the police.
