It was 1981, Toyota Motor Corporation has announced plans to merge with its sales entity, Toyota Motor Sales Corporation.
Since 1950, the two entities have existed as separate companies as a prerequisite for post-war reconstruction in Japan.
The merger began with Shoichiro Toyoda, head of Toyota Motor Sales Corporation, in preparation for the completion of the 1982 operation. Shoichiro then succeeded his uncle Eiji Toyoda as president of the merging organization which later became known as the Toyota Motor Corporation.

The Toyota Motor Trade Company was established as an independent company in 1950 and remained in existence until July 1982.
A year after the establishment of the company referred to, , the company began producing the four-wheel drive "Land Cruiser" whose production continues today and is considered by many around the world to be the leading vehicle in the 4×4 four-wheel drive category in terms of performance and efficiency[28] This is considered a great success for Kichiro Toyoda, the founder of Toyota, who died in 1952 at the age of 57.
