The Ford F-150 boasts several available V6 and V8 engines, ranging from 302 to 411 horsepower. All come mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The base V6 engine has adequate power for daily driving, but if you often carry a full load of people or cargo, you'll want to find a more powerful engine. The twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine delivers best-in-class towing at up to 11,300 pounds, a figure matched by the 6.2-liter V8. Both of those powertrains, along with the other V8, have brute acceleration and admirable transmission performance.

According to the EPA, you can expect anywhere from 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway down to around 12/16 mpg city/highway. The F-150's base fuel economy is better than that of most other trucks. The F-150 has standard rear-wheel drive and available four-wheel drive. Its responsive steering and relatively good maneuverability make it one of the better-handling trucks, despite some body lean when cornering. Ride quality is good over most surfaces, though you can still feel some harsh bumps in the road. An F-150 with a rear row has two complete sets of second-row LATCH child-seat connections, plus a tether anchor for the middle seat.The most basic Ford F-150 is short on standard features, with just an AM/FM stereo and climate controls.
